James Foster medical record books, 1826-1893.

Entries give patients' names, treatment, and fees for Foster's medical practice in Kentucky and later in Mississippi. Volume 3 contains an extensive inventory of household furnishings. The three volumes cover the years 1826-1830, 1867-1868, 1876-1878, and 1893.

Isaac Gaillard Foster and John Sanderson Foster were the sons of James Foster, a medical doctor of Natchez, Mississippi. The family resided at Hermitage Plantation near Natchez. Both sons served in the Confederate Army. John S. Foster died of wounds received during the Gettysburg campaign, 1863; Isaac G.
